SA-HELP Detailed Report

How to read this report

This report provides a distribution of SA‑HELP student loans for a selected reporting period (Full or Half Year) based on the following pre‑defined set of criteria:

  • Citizen/resident indicator (E358) is
    • 1 Australian citizen,
    • 2 New Zealand citizen,
    • 3 Permanent visa other than Permanent humanitarian visa, or
    • 8 Permanent humanitarian visa

SA‑HELP eligible students

  • Student Status code (E490)
    • 280 Deferred all or part of SA fee for a Course of Study through SA‑HELP,
    • 281 Deferred all or part of SA fee for a Bridging Course for Overseas Trained Professional through SA‑HELP

The following table identifies the components that are used to construct the report:

  • Postgraduate - 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 11, 12, 14
  • Undergraduate - 08, 09, 10, 13, 20, 21, 22 and 50 (non‑award courses)

Student numbers A count of distinct Student Master CHESSNs (E488)
The data takes into account the coding of students who have more than one SA‑HELP loan for the given reporting period.
Total Amount Charged Uses the reported Total amount charged (E384) value
Amount Paid Upfront Uses the reported Amount paid up front (E381) value
HELP Debt Amount Uses the reported HELP debt amount (E558) value

Students with more than one SA‑HELP loan are only counted once if they appear in two or more categories in this report. So the total student count for each aggregated category may be less than the number of student loans that contribute to that total count.
