Indicative tuition fee

The indicative tuition fee reported on element 496 (Indicative tuition fee for a domestic fee-paying place) is the approximate cost of a course for a first year student studying full time for one year (i.e. 1 equivalent full-time student load or 1 EFTSL).

This fee is reported on the Campus (CM) file.

The projected average cost is derived based on the tuition fee for a full time student load (1 EFTSL) for a first year student.

When reporting the indicative tuition fee on element 496 for the course that is:

  • 1 EFTSL or more - report the average annual fee; or
  • less than 1 EFTSL - report the actual fee calculated as a percentage of 1 EFTSL

For example:

  • Master of Business
    • Total course cost = $40,000
    • Standard course duration = 2 years of equivalent full time study (i.e. 2 EFTSL)
    • Approximate cost for fee paying students in the first year of study (i.e. 1 EFTSL) is $20,000
    • This is reported on element 496 as 20000
  • Graduate Diploma of Business
    • Standard course duration = 1 year of equivalent full time study (i.e. 1 EFTSL)
    • Approximate cost for fee paying students for the first year of study (i.e. 1 EFTSL) is $20,000
    • This is reported on element 496 as 20000
  • Graduate Certificate of Business
    • Standard course duration = 0.5 years of equivalent full time study (i.e. 0.5 EFTSL)
    • Approximate cost for fee paying students for the first year of study is $10,000
    • This is reported on element 496 as 10000
